Graduation Requirements

Required Courses to Graduate

  • 4 Units of English

  • 4 Units of Science

  • 4 Units of Mathematics

  • 3 Units of Social Studies

  • 1 Unit of Health & Personal Fitness

  • 3 Units of Career/Technology and/or World Language and/or Fine Arts

  • 4 Units of Electives (minimum)
    A total of 23 Credits to Graduate

Note: World Language (Foreign Language) is not required for Graduation BUT is required for acceptance into a 4 year College or University

It is important to note that the chart above is the minimum requirements to graduate and that there are certain requirements within each subject category.  

For example:

  • English:  Must include 9th Lit and American Lit

  • Math:  Must include Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra II

  • Science:  Must include Biology, Physics or Physical Science, and Chemistry or Environmental Science or Earth Systems

  • Social Studies:  Must include World History, U.S. History, Government (minimum of 1/2 credit) and Economics (minimum of 1/2 credit)

At Alexander, it will normally require a minimum of 24 credits to graduate because we teach Government and Economics as full credit courses.  However, most students graduate with well more than 23 credits.  It is much more likely for a student to have earned closer to 32 credits prior to their graduation from Alexander.
