The Douglas County School System has partnered again with the West Georgia Regional Library System to bring summer reading to the community this June and July through Douglas County Loves Literacy, with a series of free Pop-Up events featuring surprise celebrity readers, hands-on activities and Bookmobile visits.

Each event invites families to listen to a local celebrity guest read a favorite story, then participate in a fun hands-on activity related to the book. The first 25 families at each event will receive a free book to keep.

Students are encouraged to log their reading again through the Beanstack app as we work toward our community goal of 3 million minutes this summer.

The West Georgia Regional Library System Bookmobile will be on-site at each Pop-Up location, giving families a chance to explore library resources and sign up for library cards.

Events run from 6-7 p.m. at the following locations:

June 8: Douglas County School System, 11490 Veterans Memorial Highway, Douglasville

June 22: Youth Innovation Lab, 8828 Gurley Road, Douglasville

July 13: Fairburn Road Senior Center, 6287 Fairburn Road, Douglasville

July 27: Legacy Arena, 9030 Highway 5, Douglasville
